Description
Tsubosan Hardness Test File Set
6-piece set of hardness testers made by Tsubosan in Japan. An essential tool for testing the hardness of your knives & tools after heat treating.
These files feature curved ends, allowing easy access to internal spaces of pipes, grooves, and channels. The set is highly portable, making it convenient to take these files to any job site.
Key features include:
- Non-slip handles for ease of use.
- Suitable for testing hardness on flat surfaces, curved surfaces, and inner-edge surfaces.
- An innovative and cost-effective solution for quick hardness checks, eliminating the need to bring materials to a testing machine. Instead, use this set of 6 files ranging from 40 to 65 HRC.
To test your material:
- Start with the BLACK handle file (65 HRC) and run it over the material. If it marks, the material is less than 65 HRC.
- Try the BLUE handle file (60 HRC). If it doesn't mark the material, the material is harder than 60 HRC but less than 65 HRC.
- If the BLUE file (60 HRC) marks the material, proceed with the GREEN file (55 HRC), then the LIGHT-GREEN file (50 HRC), and continue until the file does not mark the material. The hardness is between the last marking file and the first non-marking file.
The set includes:
- HRC 40
- HRC 45
- HRC 50
- HRC 55
- HRC 60
- HRC 65
