Welcome! I thought I would write a brief article about who we are and why we are here.
Aus Maker Supplies is comprised of a grand team of 1 – me! Tim Ford. Hopefully this will change soon as we grow.
I’ve been a maker for 7 years now, mostly making knives but also doing little bits of blacksmithing, woodwork and general tinkering. I love making and everything to do with it. Being in my shop brings me great joy and I’m glad I can be apart of the maker community here in Australia. Some of you will know me from my time either at another company or from my maker career. But if you don’t know me you can see my own personal work here
The Maker movement here in Australia has grown exponentially over the last 5 years, most notably over the last 3 with the events of the big C forcing people inside and making them find other ways to entertain themselves. Many people found making and I could see that first hand in my job.
My hopes for Aus Maker Supplies is to become the new leader of supplies for makers here in Australia. This includes everything from knifemaking to papier Mache and my goal is to provide each maker with the best experience possible.
From how I see it the maker community is lacking the service it deserves. And my aim will be to provide that to each one of you. As we grow, I know we wont be perfect, and for a while we wont be the best. But I hope I can bring you along for the journey with me and see what we can create together.
