Description
Hardened Stainless Steel Damascus Bar Ladder Pattern (3x50x500mm) 58-60 HRC.
Damascus or pattern welded steel consists of two or more types of steel layered and heated up to forge welding temperatures and then squished together causing the atoms to stick together forming a singular bar of steel.
In this bar of steel we have hardened stainless steel layered steel layers all the way though the bar with no interruption to pattern and no core.
Process for working
- Cut out the steel to your blade design
- Grind in bevels
- Hand sand the blade
- Etch in ferric chloride & Hydrochloric acid.
- Wash thoroughly with water to neutralise the acid
