2x48" (50x1220mm) Trizact 305EA A3 & A5 Micron Belts
Fine-grade Trizact belt for sharpening and pre-polish work, picking up where our 237AA range (100–6 micron) leaves off.
Standard aluminium oxide belts start sharp and dull quickly, and the scratch pattern they leave gets rougher as the mineral breaks down unevenly. Trizact's structured abrasive uses layered, pyramid-shaped mineral that keeps exposing fresh cutting surfaces as it wears, giving a consistent scratch pattern and even edge apex across the belt's full life rather than a steady drop-off. That consistency matters most right at the edge — a blade's sharpness comes down to how clean and straight that apex is, not just how many grits you've been through. Built on a flexible JE-weight cloth backing with a heat-resistant resin bond and grinding aid, it stays cool and flexible enough for contact wheel, platen, or offhand work — control that matters when you're refining an apex rather than just knocking down scratches.
Where it fits in the process:
- A5 ≈ 4000 grit, A3 ≈ 7000 grit — well beyond bevel-setting grits, into edge refinement territory
- Cleanly removes burr from coarser grinding rather than folding it into a wire edge, which matters more to a working edge than raw grit number
- Refines a coarse-ground apex into a straighter, cleaner edge — sharper in the technical sense, not just shinier
- A more refined apex also holds up longer under use, with less microscopic damage to fold or chip
- Final belt stage before stropping, cutting down hand-finishing time
- Also suited to pre-polish and scratch refinement on stainless, tool steel, and Damascus before heat treat or etching
Grade guide:
-
A5 — first fine pass after the 237AA range, moving past 6 micron into edge refinement
-
A3 — finer of the two; last belt pass before stropping, doing most of the work before you ever touch a strop
