Introducing our new Wood Stabilizing Resin mady by Eparency. Specially made for stabilizing wood, this resin deeply penetrates wood fibers, providing unmatched stability, and adding that extra shine and hardness to timber. Instructions
- Dry wood at 100°C for at least 2 hours to remove all moisture.
- Add 100:1 Parts of Resin to Activator to activate resin. Note once activated the shelf life for resin is ~1 month if kept under 20C and away from sunlight and other heat sources. Only the resin you intend on using needs to be activated.
- Wait until the activator fully dissolved. Place the mixture in a cool and shady place.
- Add resin to weighted-down wood in a vacuum chamber
- Apply vacuum until no more bubbles
- Allow to soak for one more hour
- Wrap wood in alfoil.
- Place the wood in the oven at 90-100°C
- Leave for 2-4 hours until cured
- Remove the wood block. If still wet, immediately place back in oven and cure for two more hours.
Important Notes
- Do not mix anything containing metal oxide into the activated resin (will cause the resin to go off at room temp) This includes pigments, pastes, containers with rust, and weight plates with rust.
- Its vital that all resin activated or not is stored in cool dark places to maximise shelf life. UV and sunlight dramatically reduces life.
- Official CJ dyes and other Aliline dyes can cause resin to activate early. It's recommended to dye the wood separately first instead of dying the stabilizing resin.
