Description
Houghton's K Fast Quench Oil
For use in most high carbon steels where fast quenching is required to get the best performance out of your steel. This includes steels like 1075, 1084 W2, 1095 and many more.
Tips for use
- Pre heat the oil to ~60°c before quenching to reduce the vapor jacket formed by the steel.
- Once Quenched ensure steel is constantly moving within the oil as if you are cutting through the oil forwards and backwards
- Do not wiggle the knife from side to side, this can cause warping.
- If possible use an antiscale on your steel before heat treating to create a quicker clean-up on your steel post heat treat.
