Damascus Random Pattern Stainless Steel Bar (3x50x500mm) 60-61 HRC.

Damascus or pattern welded steel consists of two or more types of steel layered and heated up to forge welding temperatures and then squished together causing the atoms to stick together forming a singular bar of steel.

In this bar of steel we have stainless steel layered steel as a cladding and a core steel (a VG10 steel equivalent 8Cr14MoV) The core steel is ~0.8mm of hardened steel in the centre.

Process for working

Cut out the steel to your blade design
Grind in bevels
Hand sand the blade
Etch in ferric chloride & Hydrochloric acid.
Wash thoroughly with water to neutralise the acid

Hip to be square

These paid for themselves in the first week. I was trying to align a mill and a brand new $48 engineering square told me I was out quite a bit. These blocks allowed me the square was out and I took it back for a refund.

I ordered 2 sets and I am about order another. These are so handy.

Note: the description is incorrect, these are 25-50-75, which is correct 25 x 1, 25 X 2 and 3 X 25
