Description
Damascus Random Pattern Stainless Steel Bar (3x50x500mm) 60-61 HRC.
Damascus or pattern welded steel consists of two or more types of steel layered and heated up to forge welding temperatures and then squished together causing the atoms to stick together forming a singular bar of steel.
In this bar of steel we have stainless steel layered steel as a cladding and a core steel (a VG10 steel equivalent 10Cr15MoV) The core steel is ~0.8mm of hardened steel in the centre.
Process for working
- Cut out the steel to your blade design
- Grind in bevels
- Hand sand the blade
- Etch in ferric chloride & Hydrochloric acid.
- Wash thoroughly with water to neutralise the acid
