Black Vulcanized Fibre is a tough, lightweight fibreboard made from compressed cellulose. It has long been used by knifemakers and toolmakers for spacers, liners, shims, and insulating components where durability and stability matter.
This material machines cleanly with hand tools or power tools, sands smoothly, and bonds well with common epoxies. It offers excellent impact resistance compared to many plastics, while remaining thin and easy to work into stacked handle assemblies.
