416 stainless rod.

Although I do like to use a well made knife, I purchased some 4mm 416 rod to make accelerator pump control rods for Series 1 Land Rover Solex carburettors that I rebuild for enthusiasts. I can make 3 x rods from a 300mm length, so it's very cost effective.
New pump rods are rare and expensive, and they are all worn out. I needed some easy machining 4mm stainless rod because I have to drill 8 x 1.5mm holes in the rods after bending one end at 90 degrees. After trying various grades in the 300 range, I got sick of breaking drill bits. I am now getting 30 + holes out of a cobalt drill bit. The 416 rod also cuts, files and polishes easily.
Great service from Maker Supplies is an added bonus. Mike Tamworth.
